Vibrant Twilight, often abbreviated to VT, is an online band consisting of four friends.

Aoyagi Touya, Hinomori Shizuku, and Tenma Tsukasa had been friends since childhood, however, they didn't often sing together, Tsukasa being unable to sing at all. The trio met Asahina Mafuyu in high school, who was the one who initially proposed the idea of becoming a band to Touya and Shizuku, the three inviting Tsukasa to join later on. Throughout the year, Tsukasa became more distant, and Mafuyu eventually had to move away, leaving only Touya and Shizuku.

One day, as Touya aimlessly scrolled through his phone, reminiscing about the time he had spent with the others, he found a file named "Untitled." He had initially planned to delete the file, as it hadn't been uncommon for him to find files with the same name, but his hand had slipped, and he had accidentally played the file, which had transported him to the Cottage Sekai. He had met Hatsune Miku and Kagamine Len, who had invited him for a chat.

Aoyagi Touya (青柳冬弥) is a senior at Kamiyama High School. He is the leader and illustrator of Vibrant Twilight, going by the aliases "Kaveh" and "Ajax".

Touya, Shizuku, and Tsukasa had been friends since childhood, though their time was limited to school. In middle school, Touya became friends with a group called Darkilight, but they caused Touya's relationship with Shizuku to become strained, especially after a conflict between Shizuku and Diluc, a former close friend of Darkilight's. Around the same time, Tsukasa began to grow more distant.

In an attempt to fix their friendship, Touya decided to push away Darkilight and invited Tsukasa out more, but his efforts were met with little success. After Darkilight faced some internal conflict and eventually disbanded, Touya attempted to reconnect with two of its former members, Mizuki and Kohane. However, their bad reputation among Touya's other friends made it difficult to connect with Touya's other friends. As a result, Touya, Shizuku, and Mafuyu invited Tsukasa to join Vibrant Twilight instead. Despite their efforts, Tsukasa remained distant, their bond further straining when Mafuyu moved away, leaving only Touya and Shizuku. Things slowly improved between them when Touya discovered the Cottage Sekai.

Touya is an introvert who struggles with interacting with others; however, he becomes blunt and sarcastic around those he is comfortable with. Despite his sharp tongue, he cares deeply about his friends. A pessimist with low self-esteem, Touya often questions the value of his efforts, especially after years of dedication with little recognition. He is envious of his friends and small creators who receive more attention than him. He is not forgiving, often holding grudges against people who have hurt him or his friends, but he doesn't show it.

• His weakest school subjects are math and physics.
• He always stays up late to work on things, as he gets sidetracked or interrupted during the day, leaving them constantly tired. He ignores his exhaustion, however, pushing themself until he falls asleep while working on something.
• Despite having glasses, he rarely ever wears them, as they give him a headache and make his eyes dry.
• He played violin for four years before quitting.
• Rather than energizing him, caffeine makes him tired, with energy drinks giving him chest pain and causing him to shake as well. Despite this, he frequently drinks soda.

Asahina Mafuyu (朝比奈まふゆ) is a junior. She is the lyricist of Vibrant Twilight, going by the aliases "Luna" and "Yuki".

Throughout her childhood, Mafuyu's family frequently moved due to work. They settled for four years in one place, however, they ended up moving again to Touya's hometown. Devastated, Mafuyu withdrew emotionally, adopting a "Good Girl" persona that focused on her academic excellence. As a freshman, she tutored her peers and received straight A's, hiding her pain behind a facade of perfection.

Through a shared interest of orchestra and mutual dislike of their orchestra teacher, she eventually met Touya, Shizuku, and Tsukasa, all of whom she suggested creating a band with. Vibrant Twilight was a way for her to finally show her true self and drop the "Good Girl" persona she had kept up for many months.

However, Mafuyu's hopes of having friends and feeling better were crushed when she learned she was moving away once again. Despite keeping as much contact with Shizuku and Touya as she could, she slipped back into her "Good Girl" persona, burying her depression that gnawed at her at every waking moment.

Mafuyu's "Good Girl" persona is often shy, and she tends to act as a teacher's pet. Her voice becomes unnaturally high-pitched and forced, frequently spaceing out to conserve the energy needed to maintain this facade. When Mafuyu is around the people she truly cares about, she becomes more extroverted and energetic to the point she's unaware of what she says. When she's feeling upset while with her friends, she becomes quiet and somber, often blunt or unintentionally offensive. However, hearing her friends' voices usually helps lift her mood and re-energizes her. When Mafuyu realizes she's hurt someone she cares about, she quickly becomes apologetic and withdraws, shutting down emotionally. She often reverts to her "Good Girl" persona as a way to hide her feelings. The only person who knows how to help her in this state is Touya.

Hinomori Shizuku (日野森雫) is a senior at Kamiyama High School. They are a vocalist of Vibrant Twilight, going by the alias "Steph".

Shizuku became friends with Touya back in elementary school, their friendship deepening when he introduced them to Tsukasa in middle school. However, their relationship became strained after Touya got involved with a group going by the name Darkilight and their friends, leading him to become more distant. Shizuku attempted to fix their friendship, but conflicts with Darkilight, particularly an incident with one of their close friends, Diluc, made it difficult. This incident caused most of Darkilight and its outside friends, except for Touya, to despise Shizuku.

Rather than trying to connect with Darkilight again, Shizuku and Touya decided to form their own group, Vibrant Twilight, with Mafuyu, later inviting Tsukasa to join as well. Despite their efforts, Tsukasa remained distant, their bond further straining when Mafuyu moved away, leaving only Shizuku and Touya. After Darkilight eventually disbanded due to internal conflict, Shizuku saw an opportunity to reconnect with two of Darkilight's former members, Mizuki and Kohane.

Shizuku is an introvert who struggles to communicate with those they're unfamiliar with, but becomes open and talkative around their friends. Though kind-hearted and understanding, Shizuku tends to hide their own feelings, a result of their deep-rooted trust issues. They often put the needs of others before themselves, sometimes to the point of neglecting their own well-being.

Seen as the "therapist friend" in their friend groups, offering advice and support when they can. Despite their nurturing nature, they often hide their own feelings, struggling to trust people in the fear they will leave them.

When they want to, Shizuku is a hardworking person, often to the point of overworking themselves. Even if they don't show it, they care deeply for their friends, family, and boyfriend.

• Their strongest subjects in school are science and english, while their weakest is math and finds history boring.
• Shizuku enjoys going to school to see their friends, but despises having to see people they don't get along with.
